cochisensis Common Name: Cochise Scaly Cloakfern Flower Color: Non-flowering Plant Type: Fern, Herb, Perennial Height: To 9 inches (23 cm) tall Date Observed: March 12, 2005 Notes: The pinnate fronds have hairy, reddish brown stems and dull green, oval, 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) long leaflets. The leaflets have 0 to 3 pairs of small lobes, light brown undersides, and upper surfaces covered in stellate scales. This native, desert fern grows in rock crevices in rocky canyons and on hillsides. |
