Notes: These trees are dioecious. The female flowers are followed by one-seeded, winged achenes (samaras) which are shaped like canoe paddles. The green leaves are pinnately compound with usually 5 to 7 lanceolate leaflets. The young leaves are velvety. It grows in large washes and riparian canyons.
