leptocaulis (Opuntia leptocaulis) Common Name: Christmas Cactus, Christmas Cholla Flower Color: Yellow, pale green Plant Type: Cactus, Shrub, Perennial Height: To 3 feet (91 cm) tall Date Observed: August 9, 2003 & November 24, 2003 Notes: The flowers are 1 inch (2.5 cm) across. There is a 2-inch (5 cm) long golden brown spine on each stem node. The fruit is bright red with brown glochids and adorns the plant throughout the winter. |
