linearis Common Name: Desert Willow Flower Color: Light pink to lavender Plant Type: Tree, Shrub, Perennial, Deciduous Height: To 25 feet (7.6 m) tall Date Observed: May 21, 2005 Notes: The up to 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) wide, tubular flowers have two, ruffled upper lobes and three, yellow and magenta-streaked lower lobes. Hummingbirds are attracted to the showy flowers. The leaves are narrowly linear and curved. These native trees grow in desert washes and bloom April through August. |
