Common Name: Tamarisk, Salt Cedar Flower Color: Pink, white Plant Type: Tree, Shrub, Perennial Height: 10 to 20 feet (3 to 6 m) tall or more Date Observed: April 26, 2003 Notes: The small flowers are clustered in terminal racemes. The blue-green leaves are tiny, scale-like, and excrete salt. Five Tamarix species are found in Arizona, and all are non-native. These introduced trees are invasive weeds and can be found in increasing numbers in riparian areas. |
