Notes: The vase-shaped flowers are 1/4 inch (6 mm) long in clusters at the branch tips. The leathery leaves are held vertically and have sharp-pointed tips. This native, upper foothills shrub has smooth, reddish brown bark and edible, reddish brown berries.
