sonorae Common Name: Sonoran Globe Amaranth Flower Color: White, pink Plant Type: Herb, Annual, Perennial Height: To 2 feet (61 cm) tall Date Observed: September 3, 2005 Notes: The rounded flower heads are 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide with overlapping, pointed bractlets surrounding each of the tiny flowers. The flower heads feel like dry straw and can be used as dried flowers. The leaves are opposite with pointed tips. It blooms in the late summer and fall in the lower mountain foothills. |
