Name: Silene antirrhina Common Name: Sleepy Silene, Sleepy Catchfly Flower Color: Pale Pink to white, rarely darker Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 31.5 inches (80 cm) tall Date Observed: March 27, 2005 & March 22, 2005 Notes: The 1/4 inch (6 mm) wide flowers close in the morning and have 5 petals with slightly notched, rounded tips. The opposite, green leaves are oblanceolate to linear higher on the unusually sticky stems. This native wildflower blooms in the early spring here in the desert. |
