Name: Gaura hexandra Common Name: Harlequinbush, Harlequin-bush Flower Color: Pink Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 39 inches (1 m) tall Date Observed: July 8, 2006 & August 5, 2006 Notes: The flowers have 3 or 4 pinkish, reflexed sepals, 3 or 4 bright pink, often twisted petals, and an elongated pistil. The flowers are on tall, slender flower spikes. The leaves are hairy, alternate, sessile, and linear to lanceolate in shape. This native wildflower grows in grassy areas and blooms in the summer. |
