Name: Echinocereus rigidissimus Common Name: Rainbow Hedgehog Cactus Flower Color: Pink to magenta Plant Type: Cactus, Shrub, Perennial Height: To 8 inches (20 cm) tall Date Observed: June 9, 2007 Notes: The 3 inch (8 cm) wide flowers have a band of white at the base of the pink tepals. The all-radial, comblike spines are held flat to the stems in rainbow-like alternating bands of pink and white. The similar upland cactus E. pectinatus has green below the white at the base of the flower tepals. |
