Name: Cylindropuntia arbuscula (Opuntia arbuscula) Common Name: Arizona Pencil Cholla Flower Color: Yellow-green, bronze, red Plant Type: Cactus, Shrub, Perennial Height: To 9 feet (2.7 m) tall, but usually less Date Observed: May 13, 2005 & April 29, 2005 Notes: The up to 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) wide flowers bloom in May and June and have green to bronze anther filaments and a whitish to reddish style. The stems are slender with usually 0 to 2 ( occasionally up to 4) spines per areole. The fruits are green to yellowish. |
