mexicana Common Name: Mexican Passionflower, Mexican Passion Flower Flower Color: Green with red to violet filaments Plant Type: Vine, Herb, Perennial Height: Climbing to 25 feet (7.6 m) tall Date Observed: September 10 & 11, 2005 Notes: The unusual, small, green flowers smell like mothballs and have a yellow center, 5 large, green sepals, and rings of linear filaments that open red, but fade to pale violet. The leaves are bilobed. This native, riparian vine blooms from July to September. |
