Notes: The large, usually red flowers have green stigma lobes and a cream to pink style and anther filaments. The spineless fruits ripen to a purplish red. The pads are dotted with spiny brown glochids. This introduced Texas cactus can escape cultivation here and be seen amidst native desert vegetation.
