Notes: The tubular, 1.6 inch (4 cm) long flowers have a 2-lobed upper lip and a narrow, 3-lobed lower lip. The flowers attract hummingbirds and bloom in the spring and then sporadically thereafter. The plants are usually leafless. J. candicans has upright flowers with a broader lower lip with white markings at the base.
