holzingeri Common Name: Holzinger's Venus' Looking-glass Flower Color: Violet Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 15.7 inches (40 cm) tall Date Observed: May 15, 2004 & June 13, 2004 Notes: Each of the sessile, axillary flowers has 5, ovate lobes and is cupped by a stem leaf. The leaves are rounded, serrate, sessile, and clasp the stems. The openings of the dry seed capsules are linear, while the similar T. perfoliata has broadly elliptical to rounded capsule openings. This plant grows in moist areas. |
