arizonicus Common Name: Arizona Lupine Flower Color: Pinkish purple Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 2 feet (61 cm) tall Date Observed: March 15, 2005 Notes: The 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) long flowers are spiraled along hairy flower spikes and have a red-spotted yellow and white banner spot that becomes magenta with age. The palmately compound leaves have 6 to 10 leaflets with hairless upper surfaces. The similar L. sparsiflorus is bluer and has hairy, narrower leaflets. |
