wrightii (Datura meteloides) Common Name: Sacred Thorn-apple, Jimsonweed Flower Color: Pure white to lightly edged with violet Plant Type: Herb, Subshrub, Annual, Perennial Height: To 5 feet (1.5 m) tall, but usually less Date Observed: September 17, 2006 & June 11, 2004 Notes: Poisonous. The 8 inch (20 cm) long, 6 inch (15 cm) wide or more, tubular flowers have 5, long lobe tips and a puberulent corolla. The leaves are grayish green, ovate, velvety, and may have a few, large teeth and rippled margins. The spiny seed capsules are round, velvety, drooping, and contain tan seeds. |
