Notes: The rayless, 5/8 inch (1.6 cm) wide flower heads are surrounded by 5 purplish bracts dotted with dark glands. The leaves are bluish green and narrowly linear. These common, native, desert plants are well-branched with many thin, wiry stems. The foliage has a strange, unpleasant odor when crushed.
