californicus Common Name: Creamcups, Cream Cups Flower Color: Pale cream, white, yellowish Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 1 foot (30 cm) tall Date Observed: March 20, 2004 Notes: The flowers are 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide and have 6 delicate petals and 3 sepals. The stems and leaves are sparsely covered in unusual, long, white hairs. The leaves are hairy, opposite, linear to narrowly lanceolate, and clustered at the base of the plant. This native, desert wildflower blooms in the springtime. |
