gilensis Common Name: Gila Manroot, Wild Cucumber Flower Color: White to cream Plant Type: Vine, Herb, Perennial Height: Twining to 6 feet (1.8 m) tall or more Date Observed: March 6, 2004 & April 10, 2004 Notes: The flowers are star-shaped, 5-lobed, 3/8 inches (10 mm) wide, and followed by round, spiny, green melons 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter. The leaves are green and palmately-lobed with 5 to 7 lobes. This native vine has a very large underground tuber and grows in washes and canyons. |
