Notes: Poisonous. The 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide flowers are in umbel-like terminal clusters and have 5 reflexed petals and a hooded, central column. The leaves are linear and in whorls of 3 to 5 at the stem joints. A. verticillata has threadlike leaves and greenish flowers.
