arizonicus Common Name: Arizona Popcornflower, Bloodweed, Blood Weed, Lipstick Weed Flower Color: White Plant Type: Herb, Annual Height: To 15.7 inches (40 cm) tall Date Observed: March 13, 2004 Notes: The flowers are tiny, tubular, and 5-lobed. The leaves and stems are covered in stiff hairs. The leaves are green and have reddish margins and underside midribs. The red color is due to a red-staining dye that is also present in the reddish lower stems and roots. |
