paradoxa Common Name: Apache Plume Flower Color: White Plant Type: Shrub, Perennial Height: To 6 feet (1.8 m) tall Date Observed: April 16, 2005 Notes: The rose-like, 5-petaled flowers are 2 inches (5 cm) wide and are followed by pinkish green, feathery seeds that fade to white. The small leaves are alternate to clustered with 3 to 7 pinnate lobes and rolled under edges. It is similar to Purshia species, but has far more seed plumes. It grows above 4000 feet (1219 m). |
