saponaria (S. drummondii) Common Name: Wingleaf Soapberry, Western Soapberry Flower Color: Creamy white Plant Type: Tree, Shrub, Perennial, Deciduous Height: To 50 feet (15.2 m) tall, but usually less Date Observed: June 12, 2005 & February 5, 2005 Notes: Poisonous. The small, 5-petaled flowers are in large, branched clusters at the branch tips. The large, round fruits are one-seeded and a translucent golden orange color. The leaves are alternate and pinnately compound with 7 to 19 lanceolate leaflets. |
