longiflora Common Name: Sweet Four O'Clock, Maravilla Flower Color: White to pale pink Plant Type: Herb, Perennial Height: To 5 feet (1.5 m) tall Date Observed: September 11, 2005 Notes: The tubular flowers are 6 inches (15 cm) long or more and have a magenta center and curling, magenta stamens that project up to 2 inches (5 cm) beyond the flowers. The leaves are green, opposite, and ovate to heart-shaped. These nocturnal flowers bloom July to September in rocky, foothill canyons. |
