Name: Conyza canadensis Common Name: Canadian Horseweed, Marestail Flower Color: White rays and yellow disks Plant Type: Herb, Annual, Biennial Height: To 5 feet (1.5 m) tall Date Observed: October 1, 2005 & Sept. 24, 2005 Notes: The tiny flower heads are at the tips of highly branched flower stalks. The seed heads have a tan to whitish pappus. The leaves are green, hairy, narrow, alternate, and crowded along the main stem. This tall, upright weed resembles a green horse's tail and is unbranched below and highly branched above. |
