Name: Claytonia perfoliata Common Name: Miner's Lettuce Flower Color: White, pink Plant Type: Herb, Annual, Perennial Height: To 1 foot (30 cm) tall Date Observed: April 1, 2005 Notes: The tiny, 5-petaled flowers are in small racemes at the center of the round, perfoliate leaves (stemless leaves that clasp and surround the stems). The lower leaves are elongated and have petioles. The leaves are edible raw or cooked. It grows in moist, shady areas along streams during the springtime. |
