candida (Petalostemum occidentale) Common Name: White Prairie Clover Flower Color: White Plant Type: Subshrub, Herb, Perennial Height: To 30 inches (76 cm) tall Date Observed: July 30, 2006 & August 5, 2006 Notes: The small flowers begin to bloom in a ring at the base of the up to 3 inch (7.6 cm) long flower spikes and will later bloom closer to the top. The pinnate leaves have 3 to 9 lanceolate leaflets. The leaves and stems are hairless, unlike the similar D. albiflora. |
