pentachaeta (Dyssodia pentachaeta) Common Name: Fiveneedle Pricklyleaf, Dyssodia Flower Color: Yellow disks and rays Plant Type: Subshrub, Herb, Perennial Height: Up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall, but usually less Date Observed: August 25 & September 22, 2002 Notes: The 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) wide flowers are on slender stems above the mounding foliage. The leaves are dark green, opposite, and pinnately cleft into 3 to 11, threadlike, spine-tipped lobes. These native plants are fairly common in open or disturbed areas. |
