frutescens Common Name: Button Brittlebush Flower Color: Yellow disks and rays (if present) Plant Type: Shrub, Perennial Height: 2 to 5 feet (61 cm to 1.5 m) tall Date Observed: August 24, 2002 Notes: The flower heads are usually rayless (no petals) and instead only have 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) wide disks. The leaves are rough, green, alternate, stiffly hairy, and rounded to narrowly oval in shape. The stems are often whitish. This native, desert shrub blooms in the spring and summer after rains. |
