californica Common Name: American Threefold, Trixis Flower Color: Yellow Plant Type: Subshrub, Shrub, Perennial Height: To 3 feet (91 cm) tall Date Observed: March 27, 2004 & April 19, 2003 Notes: The 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) wide flower heads are rayless and surrounded by green, leaf-like bracts. The seed heads are topped by straw-colored bristles. The leaves are dark green, lanceolate, alternate to whorled, up to 2 inches (5 cm) long, and often have curled-under margins. This native plant grows on rocky slopes. |
