aurea Common Name: Scrambled Eggs, Golden Smoke Flower Color: Yellow Plant Type: Herb, Annual, Biennial Height: To 1 foot (30 cm) tall Date Observed: March 14, 2004 Notes: Poisonous. The 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) long flowers have an inflated spur extending behind them and are followed by long, slender, curved seed capsules. The leaves are blue-green and highly divided. The similar C. curvisiliqua has more strongly curved flowers. This native, spring wildflower grows in sandy areas. |
