caespitosa Common Name: Tufted Globe Amaranth Flower Color: Yellow to white Plant Type: Subshrub, Herb, Perennial Height: To 6 inches (15 cm) tall Date Observed: April 17, 2005 & April 16, 2005 Notes: The tiny, yellow to white, tubular, 5-lobed flowers are surrounded by stiff, cream-colored bracts in rounded flower heads up to 2/3 inch (1.7 cm) in diameter. The leaves are obovate or oblong and green but densely covered in grayish white hair. This native plant grows in upland areas. |
