Red Arizona Flowers

Listed here are some of the southeastern Arizona wildflowers with conspicuous red, scarlet, or dark magenta flowers. Note: Some of the wildflowers listed below do not yet have images available in this color.
Red is the favorite flower color of hummingbirds, so many of our hummingbird-pollinated wildflowers are red in color. Because of our geographic location and plentiful supply of hummingbird flowers, hummingbirds are common here in southeastern Arizona and 18 different hummingbird species have been observed here. Hummingbird flowers are generally red and tubular in shape to hold their nectar supplies, so any wildflower found here with red, tubular flowers most likely depends on hummingbirds for pollination.
