Yellow Arizona Flowers

Southeastern Arizona Yellow Arizona Flowers

Listed here are some of the southeastern Arizona wildflowers with conspicuous yellow or golden flowers. Note: Some of the wildflowers listed below do not yet have images available in this color.

Yellow is probably the most common wildflower color here in southeastern Arizona, especially in desertscrub areas in the Sonoran Desert where yellow-flowered trees, shrubs, subshrubs, herbs, and cacti are all easy to find.

Many yellow flowers are pollinated by insects, and even flowers of other colors will often have a yellow spot or yellow central disk for attracting insects. However, insects see color very differently from humans, and what may appear to us to be a plain, solid yellow flower may instead appear to have a bold bullseye or target pattern in the ultraviolet visual range of some pollinating insects.
