Southeastern Arizona Perennials

Perennials are plants with a three or more year life cycle. Some perennials like Penstemons (Penstemon spp.) are relatively short-lived and only live for a few years, while others like Creosote Bush (Larrea tridentata) are extremely long-lived. One Creosote Bush can live for a hundred years, and the colonial ring of cloned plants surrounding the original plant can continue growing and living for thousands of years.
