Caryophyllaceae – Pink Family
Plants in the widespread, but especially arctic, alpine, montane, and north-temperate Pink Family (Caryophyllaceae) are annual, biennial, and perennial herbs (a few are shrubs, small trees, and vines) with simple, usually opposite leaves, flowers with 0, 4, or 5 petals, 4 or 5 sepals, and a superior ovary, and fruit in the form of a capsule or an utricle (a dry, bladder-like, one-seeded fruit).
Listed below are some of the southeastern Arizona plants in this family.
