Loasaceae – Loasa Family

Plants in the mainly American Loasa Family (Loasaceae) are annual and perennial herbs, subshrubs, and shrubs with alternate, often pinnately lobed leaves, rough or stinging hairs, bisexual flowers with 5 petals, 5 sepals, an inferior ovary, and numerous stamens (the outer stamens are often petal-like in appearance), and fruit in the form of a dry capsule.
