Plants in the worldwide but mainly tropical and subtropical Buckthorn Family (Rhamnaceae) are trees, shrubs, and herbs (rare) with simple leaves that have stipules, flowers with 0, 4, or 5 petals, 4 or 5 sepals and stamens, and fruit in the form of a fleshy drupe or a capsule.
