Plants in the worldwide Figwort Family (Scrophulariaceae) are annual and perennial herbs, subshrubs, and shrubs with alternate, opposite, basal, or whorled leaves, bisexual, tubular or bell-shaped, generally two-lipped flowers with 5 lobes (2 lobes on the upper lip and 3 lobes on the lower lip), 4 stamens, and a superior ovary, and fruit usually in the form of a two-celled capsule.
