Tamaricaceae – Tamarix Family

Plants in the Eurasian and African Tamarix Family (Tamaricaceae) are perennial shrubs and trees with small, simple, alternate, scale-like leaves, small, bisexual flowers with 4 or 5 petals, 4 or 5 sepals, and a superior ovary, and fruit in the form of a capsule. Plants in this family often grow in saline areas and many have become invasive weeds outside of their natural range.
